Monitoring Gait at Home in Parkinson’s Disease

To track the severity of one’s Parkinson’s disease, visiting the clinic is often required. This paper describes a device that can be used at home to analyze one’s movements and infer gait speed, the time it takes one to walk a certain distance. The device was shown to accurately measure gait speed and detect changes in gait speed in response to treatment. The device could be a way to track disease progression at home.
